That is a very likely possibility. From a production stand point, its easier for the assembly line to be set up to continue manufacturing cars complete, rather than to convert the assembly line over to install the missing chips/parts, and then revert it back to assemble complete vehicles again. I know it doesn't much sense to us as the consumer but from their end of things, its saving them time and money.
I’ve had an F-150 Platinum and Bronco WildTrak both on CHIP holds and parts delays…they do finish vehicles stored offsite, it’s just a slower process bringing them back or work is done at storage site…I’ve seen videos specifically showing Bronco with hoods open and people working on them, posted on Forum and I believe it was a YouTube vid. In any event I didn’t have to wait until the end of the build year cycle for either…just have to be patient, once they come you forget about this process, enjoy the new car smell and move on…waiting on our Expedition to come, the last of our vehicles for 3 years. If we are lucky supply chains will normalize by then.

I believe most all ship by rail when going out of state. Ours did and we’re in NC. It arrived this week and I was able to see/drive it yesterday. We got a platinum forged green with Carmelo interior, 3.73, EDLS, and HD tow. It’s absolutely gorgeous but I’m on the fence. We’d be paying $1k below MSRP. Dealer says if we don’t take it they plan to mark it up $10k over MSRP. I was more impressed with it before I drove it. I thought I rode rougher than my Ram and the seats weren’t as comfy (nothing is removed, we have the massaging seats and rear climate controls). I thought the platinums had an air ride suspension but didn’t feel that way to me. Maybe that’s an option we didn’t select. If we bought it we may be able to sell it for the same or more within a few months considering it has everything and most now don’t but that’s not a certainty with the current market/economy. I need to decide today but still straddling the fence.
O wow. A person on here with one of the first krs said his rode better with the air suspended ram.i will say though even the coil suspended ram is a smooth rider and I didn't think it rode better than my 18 ltd on base. I did think the ram rode better than the denali on springs though and slightly worse than a 21 nav.

My Ram doesn’t have the air suspension. For added context I spent just over an hour driving the expedition - 33 mins each from dealership to house - of mostly back roads. On the trip back to the dealership my lower back started hurting from the seat. Maybe I would’ve gotten used to it over time but I was very disappointed. The same goes for the ride but maybe my expectations were too high. It’s very subjective and I wouldn’t read too much into. If you’ve owned one before I doubt you’ll be disappointed. The fit/finish of the interior was excellent. It looked and felt like a high end luxury car from that standpoint. Engine had plenty of power and the transmission was very smooth. My wife was disappointed by the lack of cargo space with the third row up and didn’t feel it improved our situation enough to merit the investment at this time. In retrospect we should’ve been looking at the max and probably will be in the future.

My trade in value was locked in when I ordered my new one, however that doesn't offset the rise in interest rates. Hopefully my truck is in my hands by the end of June and I can lock in my loan.

The cargo space with the third row is very minimal. We had twins last year and were looking to upgrade from an Edge, and landed on a used 2018 Expedition around a year ago. It was huge compared to the Edge, and we didn't anticipate using the third row much since we had bench seats so all three car seats fit in the second row. Once the twins showed up and we went through the holidays traveling several hours away to family, we opted to order a new one as a Max. I did rent a minivan for a recent vacation that we had to use the third row, and our regular sized Expedition still offers more room behind the third row than the van, but not by much. The width though was significantly different. Our double stroller fits width wise in the Expedition but could not in the van.

Did anyone get a scheduling email today?
Our Expedtion was ordered 2/18 and scheduled for 5/16 and then moved UP to 5/9 and upon checking today it is already in production. Maybe they are getting things up to speed somewhat.

Got the email that mine has been "built" and awaiting shipping. Ordered 12/15, final build schedule date was 4/25. Limited, stealth, tow, infinite blue. Hoping the kinks are getting worked out and we'll all have our

I have that feeling too... I ordered 1/28 (Timberline 501A) still no production date yet but took the opportunity to add Rear Seat Entertainment... Figured it's gotta be "late availability" time in the production period and 'tis the season for lemonade! Wishing you all the best on your 5/9 production!

I really feel for those of you who have been on long term chip hold. I was so hopeful when my 12/23 order got into the 4/25 production window and am now parked in a lot with the rest of you. Hoping they chip away at the chips...

Our order went into production on 4/29 and now I can't view the window sticker. I downloaded it at the first chance I could. Not sure where we are in the process at the moment.

Mine doesn’t let me view it anymore either. Been in production since March on chip hold. Does it say that the window sticker hasn’t been released yet? That’s the error I get.

I was just looking at the 2023 lineup for production. Looks like those are supposed to start September 12th after order banks open in July. The last job for MY22s is showing September 11th. I guess that means I have max of another 4-5 months before I get mine from mid-March's chip hold. I'm really hoping it's not that long or that I find a comparable one on a lot long before then.

What does the schedule mean? I'm not following because according to the schedule no Expeditions should be being built this week/next but they are.
The ones being built this week have ALREADY been scheduled. This document indicates what will be scheduled to be built on weeks 5/30, 6/6, etc. Although, that could change due to component parts shortages, which has been the case, more often than not. The fact that Expeditions are being scheduled is a good sign compared to F-Series Super Duty, of which there won't be any scheduling next week. There are a ton of orders sitting in the unscheduled order bank.
