I absolutely agree. The 2023's will be essentially the same vehicle, with maybe a few little enhancements. The chip issue will continue for at least 2 more years. From what I know, every 2022 order that has been accepted in the order system will be ultimately scheduled and built, and that will happen before Job#1 2023.
Which aligns with many of the August chip hold release notifications being provided. Ford will clean up the outstanding '22 jobs before the '23 jobs start in September. Additionally the Expedition line is down for the first two weeks of July, most likely some of that is for holiday purposes but also I'd guess that could be a clean up point for vehicles on hold too.

Another thing to consider is what will be changing from one model year to the next. We don't know yet but the order guide should be available soon if June is when orders open up. Ford has a good track record of removing features year to year to save money. There is a chance MY23 actually has less content than the MY22. If I was Ford and certain chips/parts are causing me problems, I'd try to remove those items that were the biggest headaches for MY23 to get things moving. Obviously not things like wiper motors LOL. I'm curious to see what changes in the order guide.

I placed my order and it was confirmed on 04/19 but that's the only communication I've received from Ford, which I expected since I know things have been taking forever. Does anyone know if mine will be built before the '23 orders or would they eventually just switch it to a '23?

So it seems the vehicles have been getting completed the same week of the build dates ( if you're lucky enough to hit that milestone ) has anyone noticed the turnaround for shipping and ultimately getting to the dealer?

Depending where you are in the country, 14-21 days appears to be the norm.

Two weeks ago, Marketing provided an ETA to the dealer on June 3rd after a chip hold date of 3/17.. One week ago I saw several people were receiving notices almost immediately after their built email that their shipping date had been bumped by a month or more. So I ended up calling Marketing again...they gave updated ETA of week of July 25th. I got frustrated that rates have gone up, my trade in continued to drop, and it'll be so close to a MY23 that it'll be "a year" older within a couple months of having it. I decided to hop on Ford's site Friday morning and found one a few hours away in Illinois that had just been delivered. It met my minimum specs and was about the same price as my order, and I'm probably ahead with the interest rates. I called and was able to put a deposit down and picked it up Saturday. It's an XLT Max with 202A the black accent package instead of the Limited Max I ordered in Forged Green and Sandstone seats, but I'm really happy with it so far. I like the black seats over the sandstone & black was what I originally wanted but didn't want to spring for the stealth package. I'd take the black seats over the Forged Green color, but I haven't asked for my deposit back from my dealer just in case it blows my mind when it arrives (which I doubt it would be enough to make me trade in).

I ordered my 22 Max Platinum 4x4 on Feb. 4th, no confirmation yet. I called Ford customer service, was told the vehicle was waiting for material (massage seats). No ETA or any type of updates so far.

Mine shipped on 5.5 with a delivery window of 5.24-5.30. Since it’s a holiday weekend I don’t see making that window. According to my dealer, they have no information and haven’t been able to track it. He said he is normally notified if it is dropped at the rail yard and waiting for a car hauler, no such notification has been received. For reference, I’m in Raleigh NC…a little under 9 hours away.

Mine has been a week since built, still awaiting shipment by convoy, 5 hours away.
Mine sat at the rail yard for 13 days before it got picked up by an auto carrier. The trucking industry is hurting for drivers right now if I had to guess.

mine was completed 2 weeks ago and also still waiting convoy and also 5 hours away. I get they want enough vehicles to make the trip worthwhile but that might take forever at this rate.

Mine says “picked” on ordertrack so I wouldn’t think it would take so long.

“Picked typically means that your vehicle has been assigned a transportation vehicle. This usually will not occur until the transportation vehicle has been fully allocated (all other vehicles are ready to ship along with yours).”

We ordered our 22 Max King Ranch on Mar 1st - confirmed on Mar 5th set for production 5-20 - built 5-24 and shipped 5-26. It is due in to dealer 6-14to 20th. Only thing missing from order is the start / stop feature - options limited slip, tow package and cargo organizer.

If 2023 models are built beginning September, do you believe all 2022’s will be shipped before the 2023’s are built? If so, 2023’s could be a very long time before they are delivered. Your thoughts?

I am thinking of holding out for a 2023. Does anyone have the date that 2023 orders will be accepted? Thanks!

We got the car picked up today, and I must say that the wait was well worth it, even for a basic XLT trim level version! The ride is great, SYNC 4 is awesome, and the cloth interior is super comfortable and I even like the design. I though when I was getting onyx black interior, it was going to be plain black upholstery. It is actually more of a heather gray color which I was pleasantly surprised. For you guys and gals still waiting on your rides to get to you, I really do feel for y’all but it’ll all be worth it in the long run!
