Bought a 01 4x4 Exp. last weekend and basically got it at a extremely low price for 2 problems which seem to be common on expeditions.

1st: Had to reseal the Windshield
2nd: Going to replace the fuse block because of the Windshield..

the two questions are my fuse box is labeled 1L1T-14A067-AA
the box im looking at is labeled YL1T-14A067-AA is this the same? its out of a 4x4 Navi which is a 2000.

Now onto the 3rd problem I found. P1639 Ford - Vehicle ID Block Corrupted or Not Programmed. Is this Happening because of the gem, or the fusebox at some point of time got soaked? If not I guess I have a long weekend ahead of me.

go to owner.ford.com and download the owners manual for the 2000 Navi and look at the fuse panel layout then compare it to your 01 expedition

while you have the fuse block out you can take the GEM apart and check the circuit board for any signs of corrosion or any damage. Once you reinstall the fuse block and gem recheck your codes to see if you still have P1639. You may get a P1000 code which is Drive cycle incomplete. That will clear itself once the drive cycle is complete and then any other codes should show up

DTC
P1639 - Vehicle ID Block Not Programed Or Is Corrupt

Description
This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that the vehicle ID (VID) block is not programed or the information within is corrupt.

Possible Causes
New PCM
Incorrect PCM
Incorrect VID configuration

Diagnostic Aides
Using an enhanced scan tool, reprogram the PCM to the most recent calibration available.

They look identical to me. The different code is what makes me think otherwise. I've removed the fuse box and it shows water damage ect. The gem does not. Code never went away not did the flashing dash lights. However I do not know if the PCM was changed at any point. Bought the truck for 2k with brand new 31s and a 2" lift not installed. No scratches or rust, not a dent one. The owner kept it inside at all times and I guess the windshield leak finally messed things up.

kindly update your signature line with year model and engine information. This can be done in the USER CP section as this information helps others give you replies specific to your expy

Yes, either the gem or the fuse box has failed. Flickering lights, radio on and off, random dash lights coming on, and a clicking noise for the box every now any then. The two color coated connections on te back, one is red one is brown, can someone explain which is what.

I don't have a picture of it but it's the two square bolt on connection on the bottom of the fuse box. You have to unbolt those two to get the box out.

they are the two main connectors for the fuse block

when you get the fuse block out you will see that the GEM is attached to the fuse block.

Look at the label for both the fuse block and the GEM you will see the part number and you will also see a date of manufacture on the label.

you can take the GEM apart very easy but the fuse block is very tough to take apart

let me know those dates.

Damn, I'll have to wait till I get home. The white colored connection has sign of almost a electrical fire, only on the bottom two or 3 right side inlets. As for wiring I'm only used to carb engines with little to no wiring. This is my first ford and my first vehicle over the 80s. Having a kid in about a week so I thought I'd get into something dependable.

is it possible for you to contact the previous owner and ask him if the

fuse block, gem or pcm has ever been changed/replaced

I would almost be certain that he knew of the problem/s with the expy before he sold it to you.

be nice about asking and just explain that you are looking for any information so that you can get the expy running properly

Called today, the previous owner didn't answer.
But this is what I found when I removed it a couple days ago to clean it out.
