As the title says one of the hoses out of the fuel pump is leaking fuel. I have searched online and can not find any help with which hose it may be. Normally I would buy all three and take back the two that are fine but I am working out of town and do not have any of my tools and I would rather not have to take my truck to the shop. The hoses that I have found are between $82 and around $150. Is there any hoses that commonly develop leaks or are obvious suspects for a leak? I have only had the truck for a few months and have very little experience with Ford trucks.

Any chance the fuel pump has been changed in the past? There are quite a few line going to the tank, possible one of them isn't clamped correctly. If not, I recommend an inspection to see where it is coming from. Sometimes these lines can get very expensive, be careful with the clips that hold them on.

Its my girlfriends truck that I have been driving for only a few months but she has owned it for a year and a half. No fuel pump changes in that time. Ford wants to charge $100 to inspect it but I guess I can find a local mechanic that could put eyes on it and give a better idea.

Is there any way besides dropping the tank to get a look at the lines? I cant really get at them but when I pull the cover off of the fuel filter gas is sitting in the guard.

You can partially inspect the lines if you can raise the rear end up enough to climb/slide under. You may be able to just slide under if your not of the portly crowd like myself. The only thing you can't see are the lines on top of the tank. Unfortunately that does require dropping the tank.

Is it only leaking at the filter or does it have problems around the tank also?

With the cover removed you can inspect for leaks while the engine is running. Just remember it doesn't take much to ignite the gas so be careful.
