I'll ignore this weeks episode of "Let's measure our d****" but I do appreciate the passion which each argues.....that's what missing from most women, passion. They all think they have it but very few do...anyway, different discussion and no, that wasn't any reference to our players as being woman, it was just a tangent.
Anyway, I got some sleep so this is prob going to be a bit wordy....sorry.
I agree that it is a great time to be alive..well all the time is... but especially for high performance engine lovers. Those of us that remember when 67 GTO with triple deuces ran the streets, the '68 Camaro, Barracuda's with impossibly large blk engines and more for the next couple years......to go to the neutered, reduced-valve-sized cars of the mid-70's through the late 80's....or we called it....
"The Time of Desolation"
Make no mistake...regardless of the re-written history.....the high performance cars were legislated out of existence not to save fuel but lives & ultimately money. The insurance industry took a VERY dim view of my H2 in 1974 and a dimmer view of the Hemi-anything........soon, they were all gone!
I took refuge in my two stroke street bikes.....and relived former glories on the weekends.
Then, there came a great engineering awakening....and it was begun not by the old hands of the manufacturers but by the bright young bold engineers who wanted to build something with a crapload more kick than their PC-Beaten parents had produced......
and the kids did well...beginning with their Ricer-rama's their talent quickly spread to Lexus, Honda, Toyota and the rest is history....now we live in a time where most, not all but most who work hard in life, can afford to buy a 500HP beast from the factory....not just onew car but a choice of 500+HP machines.....
The shift is on though....first to electric as several places such as China & the UK have agreed to the gas-vehicle ban beginning I THINK 2040 or is it 2042?
Enjoy it, because it will be gone all too soon....those of you that read know the writing on the wall. Local jurisdictions will begin to "outlaw" human driven cars. This will spread until the first city (& we all know what State is will happen) does it....once the cities ban human driven cans....well, I'd think the industry would stop offering them.
What will our grandkids tell their grandkids? Maybe just pictures...
