I have watched all of the YouTube videos that address the ”fixes”! Followed each one. Battery in truck is good, battery in fob is good. Every function on fob works except start.
No engine light, did a scan with OBD II no problems to clear. No doors, hood or rear hatch open. Tried the hold start button and fob button at the same time for 10 sec. to I assume link the fob. Nothing! Trying remote start, lock doors, press start button on fob twice. Still will not work. The only response when I try to use is fob get one red flash. Any other fixes, suggestions on this issue? Very frustrating!

Did you look in vehicle settings, remote start enabled? Other than that you can press that sequence all day long and it won’t start.

Yes, I checked the remote start box in the system.
I left that step out in my tale of what I’ve tried. Thanks for responding.

Although you checked the remote start box in the settings system, perhaps try unchecking the box and turning off the vehicle. Then restart it and recheck the remote start authorization in settings and see if that will work (after shutting off the vehicle again and locking it).

Can you remote start with the Ford Pass app?
One thing I found is your Ford Pass app has to have the latest version. Not sure if it helps but it's worth checking.
When you hit the lock twice, do you get one or 2 beeps?
The hood switch could be bad or bent, even if you are not getting a notice. Try bending up the hood switch a little bit

I just updated the Sync 3 to latest version. I’ve not tried to start with Pass. Good idea. I didn’t know you had to hit lock twice! I’ll have to check that! The hood switch on my vehicle is apparently in the latch, it’s not like what’s shown mounted on inside of fender like video shows.
I guess that hood latch switch could be bad.

Ok, I did a Master Reset of the system.
Went into vehicle and checked the box for remote start.
Turned off the engine, got out. Clicked lock button twice got only one horn honk. Hit remote start button twice. The truck did not start!
Any suggestion now?

When you say battery is ok. What makes you think that? Mine would start fine but the battery was garbage and lots of weird electrical issues would randomly happen. Sunroof would quit, steps would just ignore the door being opened, transmission would shift funny
Oh and remote start was MIA.

New battery all those issues went away.

Yep, battery can cause all sorts of issues and the BMS will start shutting down features. My Explorer never got driven much. The first item shut off was Auto Start/Stop, then the running boards and pano roof. I swapped out the battery, reset the BMS and they started working again. This very well could be the hood switch. Easy way to test is jump the wires on the switch.

Excellent idea. I’ll take truck to shop and get battery tested. I had no idea different options would just shut because of battery, even though the battery was strong enough to turn over starter and start engine.

Update….. I got the Ford Pass app setup! The app WILL remote start.
But key fob still will not!
OK, then I don't think you have a bad hood switch, door locks or anything that will interfere with the start.
My next suggestion is if you don't have a second FOB, get another FOB, program it and see if it will work.

This came with my keys. Solid red says that’s the key press sequence to shut the engine. Try pressing to lock button once then the circular remote start twice and it should start.

BTW - don't hold the lock button while pressing the circular start button twice. It’s three individual presses of the buttons.

I do have a second fob. Everything works on it except remote start, just like the first fob.

I decided to try something with the fob. I started the engine with Ford Pass app, then I hit the start engine button once on the fob, like instructions say to turn off engine….and that worked. So the fob communicated with the system. And yet it will not start engine!

You still didn't answer the battery question. Why do you feel the battery is good? One of the first indicators my battery was failing was it would not start via the key fob. I rarely use that feature and I ran the battery almost a complete year longer before I ended up replacing it. Eventually, the auto start stop also stopped working and it would do a couple other weird things and that is when I caved and bought a new battery. The key fob works now.

I now have a new battery on the Expedition and in both fobs.
The previous battery when tested under a load showed to be good n the testing computer at the shop.
The only “weakness” was the CCA was 778 instead of 850. Since the battery was over 3 years old, I just got a new one.
However, so far the remote start using the fob still won’t work, even though the FordPass app remote start does! All of the other functions the fob also work correctly. The remote start is checked as on in the system which is why the FordPass app works.
So I’m still stumped! Any other suggestions are appreciated.
