Took mine to get an oil change at jiffy lube and they told me the front shock was leaking. Took it to ford to have it looked at(and other issues they told me about) and the dealer told me "we can check for you but if its not leaking, youll have to pay us $150 for diag" i said wait, it should be a warranty item, and they said it is but we have to see of theres a problem. I was like, its leaking you can see it for yourself, then she said yea but we havent seen it and need to take it back. I told em forget it, im turning it in in less than a mnth ill let it be someone elses problem. I also told the dealer about my mirrors and she said they would run the system program update. Got the truck back, mirrors still pop, she forgot to get them to run the update.
who is this dealer?
Here's a feel good dealer story: Once upon a time, I took my Datsun in to get it check before the warranty expired. It came back with one burned valve and a request to bring it back in when they had new head. They replaced it under the warranty even though it was over the warranty mileage when I brought it back in.
What’s a Datsun? You’re joking, right?What's a Datsun? LOL!!!

As did I by calling you out.no, but I may have just aged myself.

Wait, are Driver and passenger side different? I'm guessing they mean they only had one front shock in stock and the fronts are on back order...2018 Limited with 29,000 miles, two leaky fronts. Dealer will replace under warranty. Did the passenger side, but the driver side is back ordered, so will have to take it back.

Those are struts all around...those springs will need to be safety compressed. I swapped all 4 of mine out for KYB Excel-G in the rear; Bilstein 5100s in the front by professionals - driver's side OEM front and rear blown after 17.5K milesPurchased a used 2018 Expy XLT Ford Certified with ~45K. Put about 2,000 miles on it. Puddle of oil discovered under the drivers rear shock. Not sure Ford will cover even with the warranty so looking to replace with after market myself. Question, does the shock come out through the spring or will I have to compress the spring? No YouTube videos that I have found on this year Expy.

why am I not surprised they can't tell without looking? I got Bilstein struts all around. Just posted about it.So are these classified as MacPherson Struts that we have or shocks? Ford covers MacPherson struts according to the certified warranty. Ironically, Ford can’t tell me this without looking at the vehicle.
Is the replacement job pretty standard or is there anything special? Ours is out of warranty and I’m not going to pay $800 for replacing just two of them.
What’s the best replacement option for a street driven family hauler?
