Well their you go. That say's it all, thanks Tom. My old 2000 just goes up/down normally, must've hit something that triggered it.

I put a (cheap) replacement motor in my drivers door window and the auto down doesn't work. When you push the down button there are 2 clicks first click the window goes down second click engages the auto down and stops working. Also the motor has no stops it goes all the way up and still runs until I release the button same on the way down. I am hoping it will last until warmer weather and I will but a proper replacement part in.

I tried it (on the way to the StupidBowl Party). Quick press down & release, goes down a couple inches & stops. Longer press down & release, goes down all the way … can stop anytime by pressing up arrow. I think you can also stop auto by pressing down arrow a second time, not sure.

Either is was a longer press or a full deep press for the auto? Not sure, not going to try it any more times. Old Expy window regulator might break. Try to avoid using windows as it is with all the breakishness. The breakosity is extreme in that part.

Won the pool at the Bowl. ate too much. couldn't do Tequila or Fireball shots had to drive home.

On some years you have to reprogram the auto function after motor replacement.
Stupid, I know but necessary.

I installed the new motor and regulator (AC DELCO Professional) plugged it in and worked perfectly. It even came with the nuts, bolts and lock washers to put it in with where the cheap one did not. So don't buy the cheap one.

Install Note: used tape on back of wrench to hold nut in place for hard to reach spots. use the little thin short wrenches because there is no room for full size.

been there, done that
the regulator on gen1 and 2 focus is immensely difficult to replace. tiny wrenches only
