The MAX, XL with tow package and no 3rd row (Seems this is an option, not a mandatory) was sold. I asked the dealer if they by chance had a picture of the sticker, we'll see

These high FX4 numbers just don’t seem correct. Here is my theory.
1. They don’t weigh the trucks to determine the payload.
2. They use the Bill of Material to calculate the weight.
3. An engineer made a mistake and either entered 0 lbs for the skid plates or put them in as a negative number.

I think it would be interesting for an FX4 and a similarly equipped 4x4 to compare curb weights (no cargo, no driver, & full tank) from a truck scale.

If I had to guess (not been under an FX4 yet) the FX4 skid plate package is probably on the "flimsy" side compared to the body armor available on the aftermarket, or compared to say the Dodge Power Wagon (interesting they don't armor the trans pan on it).

Can confirm. There's not a lot of plate down there, it's even slotted.

FX4 also has the HD radiator... that's likely heavier than the skid plates, but could increase cooling capacity?

however, that will come with 18" wheels, w/o power running boards, usually without the pano roof and a whole bunch of other stuff that is heavy... I bet the wheels and tires are a big factor?
