decode my rear differential tag

2000 expedition. 5.4 liter Triton v8. The tag has two lines. Top Line Looks like....3 S 935M...........Bottom Line looks like
.........L73 9 75 9L04.....
I am trying to figure my tow capacity and need to know what rear end I have.

You can look on thr tag for which axel you have there is a code there you can also go to ford etis and enter your vin number and you will get information on what your expy had when built. Check your owners manual for tow ratings, if you dont have the owners manual you can download a copy at owner.ford.com . Also as you are new to the form you do not need to ask the same question in different locations all post can be read by anyone at any time

Sweet. Thank you. After using Ford Etis I see that my axle ratio is 3.73 with heavy duty trailer towing, and my manual tells me that I have a towing capacity of....schwing.... 8,300 lbs. You made that happen bedrck46. God Bless you and Keep you.

just because it says 8,300 lbs just keep it in a range that you are comfortable with

That was also 8300 lbs when it was new. Heavy towing with a 14 year old truck is going to reveal any weak points or deferred maintenance. Trans cooling is one of the main limiting factors.
