I have an '04 and its the low beam. Replaced the bulb and when I plugged it all in the bulb started smoking and smelled like burning plastic. Any advice greatly appreciated

If it came from the lamp itself its a bad bulb. If it came from the socket area check and make sure the electrical contacts are in good shape.

Did you touch the bulb when putting it on? But I would agree with what toms said. Also, if you get a new bulb, it helps to wipe them down with alcohol to make sure you get any residue off.
