Will this fit / work in my 98

I have a guy that Pm'ed me telling me he has a traction locker for sale. It's out of an F 150, 8.8 31 spline axel which includes a 3.55 to 1 gears.( I do not entend to use)
My ? is will it work in my 98 3.73 LS? He has sent me a lot of pic's and looks to be in great condi. and is only asking $125.00
Though I would ask around. I know nothing about the rear end. Thank

is your truck 4X4? if it is then these wont work as they are 3.55 vs 3.73
Front and rear diff same gear ratio you would need a new axle with 3.73 gears.

Judging by the pics they didn't weld the side gears to the cage. You might find a shop that will replace the side gears. So i believe it can be rebuilt you just have to find a shop willing to do it...or put a new cage/side gear combo in. I would suggest calling around to see price/time. Start with independent shops cause their usually cheaper. The last stop would be stealership.
