I just got back from a 4,000 mile round trip from MN to Grand Canyon, with stops along the way. Out I-70 through the Rockies, back I-80 through WY, SD. I had cruise control on for the duration and got 9.5mpg on average pulling 5,000lb TT. I cruised at 70mph when the speed limit was that or...
Maybe an issue with the trailer brakes themselves? I have the opposite issue. If I have the IBC anything over 2.0, my trailer brakes lock up. However when doing the the 20mph test and triggering manual brakes it indicates I should be about 6.0 gain. Odd thing is this trailer worked fine in...
Have you looked at Jayco X23B. It’s a hybrid that sleeps 8 and only 5,500 GVW. That’s what I have for my family of 7 and I’m right at payload of 1489. I weighed it all so I know where I’m at. The other option for more payload is get a 2018-2019 with limited options. I’ve seen base models...
So I took the advice and found the wdh setup by the dealer was wrong. Why can’t people do things right? I had to buy a different shank length for the ball and spent about an hour trying different spacer washers and getting it all set and you know what she pulls like a dream and steering...
So I’m beginning to think that the ‘15-‘17 expy towing experience is more sensitive due to the electric power steering system. I bought a 2017 in fall coming from a 2010. Both are the EL. I have the exact same trailer pulled behind both and the 2017 is like driving on ice as you describe...
My son designed and 3D printed a tissue box holder. I always have a Kleenex box with my expy and it was sliding all over the dash or in someone’s seat. It’s not a hula girl but very functional and just sits there all day long now!
I noticed the same thing. But I think I looked in the manual and they were the same. It would be nice if they did make it bigger as that was one of the main reasons I passed on the ‘18 and bought a used ‘17
@ads245
I think what you describe is a similar thing I hear. I have the 3.73 rear end and I notice it just a very slow acceleration between gear 3 and 4 and 4 and 5 at slow speeds like 20-40mph. I have to be driving like a grandma to hear it but there is something there right at gear shift...
Wanted to update this for anyone else that may have a similar issue. The Dealer finally got the go ahead to replace the entire steering gear. I have driven it now for about a week and it is a completely different vehicle! I can actually control the wheels with the steering wheel! What a...
Well after 3 weeks at the dealer they finally are saying they will go ahead and replace the steering gear. Ford finally gave them approval. I hope to have it back sometime next week and hope this solves this horrible steering defect.
Update on this post. It’s been 1.5 months and 4 trips to the dealer. The dealer has looked over everything and hasn’t found an issue. They can replicate the problem. Working back and forth with Corporate Ford for next step now. Dealer mechanic thinks the entire steering rack needs to be...
Bobmbx - thanks for the reply! So it has been working. I waited 5 mins today and then looked in the window and the heated seat indicator light on the button still weren’t lit up but I opened the door and felt the seat and it was warm! I had assumed that it would turn the button indicator...
So I have the settings set to Auto for seats under the remote start menu. Do your heater seats turn on automatically in cold weather when remote starting? Mine never do.
It was about a day. I gave it to them over Thanksgiving so not real sure how long the repair took. I ended up driving with a mechanic and replicating the issue with him sitting in it with me. Then he knew right away the issue.
Finally got it back from the dealer and the rear end grinding is no more. They replaced the clutch pack in the rear differential. this is the limited slip components from what I've read and happens fairly often. Under warranty - $0!
Do you have 2 keys? If you do it’s a sequence where you insert key one turn to the on position (don’t start it), take key one out, insert key 2 turn to the on position (don’t start it) and then the code will display on the computer screen. Make sure you do with doors closed. Hope that helps.
2010 expedition. I just noticed this hole in the Firewall behind the pedals last week. Did I lose a plug? Anyone else have this? It’s about a 1.5” diameter right through the metal. It’s smooth so definitely factory made.
I'll have to schedule an appt at the dealer. I actually had alignment done before I bought it as when I test drove it the vehicle pulled hard to the right, driving without a trailer it is ok. It'm sure it's not sway as I've pulled the exact same trailer with my 2010 EL and the steering is good...
I've done it many times at 60mph with things sticking out of the rear glass. The biggest caution is to open other windows in the car to ensure you don't breathe all the Carbon Monoxide coming back in from the rear glass. That's the reason they say don't do it because you are drafting all the...
I just got my 2017 last Saturday too! I did the exact same thing you did with a front facing booster and was able to get the tether to attach. It did take a little maneuvering to get it there but it did work.
So I just picked up a 2017 Expedition EL this past weekend. I hooked it up to my travel trailer to test it down the freeway. I previously had a 2010 Expedition EL towing the same trailer. The engine / transmission is fantastic and what I was going for going from the '10 to the '17. However...
