Yeah not tropical. I live in Southeast Alaska, and we get about 150 inches of rain a year.. feels like more this year.

Just calculated it and I'm about 1000 miles away from the dealership.
Wow. That's hard to imagine. When you bought it did you fly down and drive back or did you do it over the internet or phone?

I've been to Anchorage once about 20 years ago. I was there for 4 days.I want to say it was early spring maybe May if I remember correctly; the sun didn't set until about 1:00 AM. It was very pretty country.

I bought it on a whim. Happened to be down there, saw it and drove it and LOVED it so I bought it. Had them take it to the barge and shipped it up. So car died two more times on me today. Gas station had gas tested and came back negative for any contamination. Called dealership and was told they can't help me and I need to call Ford directly. I really hope Ford can help, if not I will be trading it in... don't want to but I won't keep something they won't support... maybe a BMW X5 or Audi Q7 will be my next ride of Ford doesn't pay to fix it.. we'll see. I will have to call them Tuesday, next day off.

Not for anything but I think Andy and ski are barking up the correct tree with the throttle body replacement. What you are experiencing seems so similar to what others with this issue have experienced and sometimes codes are thrown that are indirectly related to an issue. The way it dies like that sounds like that TSB fits like a glove for your truck. Maybe you can work on corporate to have it diagnosed by a shop since you are so far from dealers and pay the labor and parts to replace? I'm not sure because you are in a unique situation. You are going to have to work something out with corporate on this one. Be assertive and persuasive and see where you can get with them.

I'm really hoping for a simple fix like that. I love my Expedition!

What information will FORscan give you concerning the throttle body? Angle, voltage, percentage etc?

This was the same Issue I had and My wife on our 2016 KR.
It was fixed with a new throttle body. I just had another 1500 mile road trip since the Fix and there were no issues.

So talked to Ford Customer Service and they pissed me off! Won't cover a shop or shipping to dealer so I'm sad to say but bad support made me trade. Will be getting this BMW instead. Still love Ford but mad so changing brands for a bit.

Well good for you! While not a big Beemer fan, it's a nice little ca-ruck. Considering your remoteness, I'm not surprised that you dumped it. I wouldn't be able to own anything that wasn't able to get fixed and since you are $1000 from any dealer means I probably would have bought a solid used truck so that $1000 "deductible" wouldn't ever apply to a warranty issue but each to his or her own....good luck!

Hmmm. Guess you can hope you don't have a warranty issue with the Bimmer. Doubt even BMW would fork over a grand just to get the vehicle to them....

Its not the warranty - Ford will honor it at the dealership just like BMW will honor theirs at the BMW dealership. Roadside assistance, which covers towing a of disabled vehicle, is good for 35 miles with Ford. BMW is more like 50 miles. Ehh, land miles. In this particular scenario, I believe Ford should have offered reimbursement to a mechanic on the island to diagnose and repair, given the TSB. I would have dealt more with the selling/servicing dealership rather than the Ford 800#.

If BMW arbitrarily ponies up $1k for a ferry ride, I'll replace my ageing 5 series for a new one... and to pay for it, I'm getting into the ferry business. (the boat kind, thank you) Extended warranty? You betcha.

Not knowing anything about your local situation, the local out-of-business Ford dealership, or living on an island (though I did grow up on Long Island), I would opine that maybe, if you and your fellow island residents had patronized your local Ford store, they would not have gone under?

They wanted to go under. They were flat out refusing to trade or order new cars. Tried to buy my Expedition through them and was told no. So it was their choice, not the community.

Sorry to hear Ford wasn't willing to work with you... that's how you lose a customer. Congrats on your new car though hope it treats you well. And as far as your dealer going under... it's their job to get you in the door and buy the community doesn't go patronize a store just because... you have to be willing to negotiate and please the consumer.
