Certainly not fuel economy since I get the same mpg in the 3.5 ecoboost as my old 5.4 v8
Should turn on that start stop feature, might help that fuel economy!
With current prices at 3.85, that might save you ~$200/ year. Assuming 12k miles. You could replace the starter and battery every other year.

Much more horsepower, and much more torque at a much lower RPM than the 5.4 V8. And about the same reliability (my 5.4 had the cam phaser issue although I didn't know what it was at the time).

I used both engines at sea level up to 14,000 feet.

Here are the stats for the Expedition:

5.4 Triton 310hp at 5,000 RPM. 365lb-ft at 3,600 RPM torque. EPA 12/17

Ecoboost 400hp at 5,000 RPM. 480lb-ft at 3,250 RPM torque. EPA 17/23

The V6 ecoboost numbers are impressive.

Turbos are amazing. The engine sips fuel cause its small but when you want power cram a ton of air and fuel.

In 1910 the Fiat S76 had a 23 Litre 4 cylinder engine putting out 290 HP. With displacement comes massive fuel burn.
Amazing how much power engines today so small can make.
