On a positive note for those of us that haven’t had our new expy’s built or haven’t had production start on them yet. No dreaded email on this Thursday night from FMC with that ‘22 front end telling us our builds have been postponed another week or month or year lol

I've been lurking here a while. Thanks for all the information. Now that I have news, I figured I'd join and post.

When tracking my VIN on the Ford site on my phone today, I was greeted with the message "Your 2022 Expedition Limited Max has been 'Built' and is currently awaiting shipment."

Order confirmed: 11/11/2021
In Production: 1/25/2022
Built: 2/22/2022
Shipped: [BLANK]
Delivery: TBD

Further down it says Estimated Delivery is 3/22/2022.
- Being delivered to Minneapolis, MN.

Congratulations!!! Post pictures when arrive, it seems you will the first one in America!!

glad you got a build. I’ve not got another delayed email so I’m encouraged by that. I’m already cringing at the thought of it sitting in a lot out in the elements for a month or more. Ughh

For a production assembly line to work:
Parts in stock for a specific build, or set of specific builds.
Inventory in place, then it's just a matter of scheduling enough of them to profitably run the assembly line for each shift called in.

It really is that simple

PS: Regardless of what you have read in the past, initial priority codes assigned do not get your car built faster, or slower than any others ordered at that time, internal priority codes change based on the above.

@jferg425 they base it off of how much you spent on it. The more money you pay, the closer to the top of the list you go

@murrdawg50 I agree, they are hideous. Reminds me of a Durango or 1500 front end from like 2019. Idk who designs these trucks but they should be fired. They have the potential to look so much better. I hate to say it but the Chevys look better than these newer Expedtions. Thank god to vinyl wrap and PTM bc my 21 would look so dumb the way it came from dealership

Question for anyone who can answer it: You guys talk about factors affecting when a vehicle gets scheduled for build. Wouldn’t the sequential number on the vin indicate the order a vehicle is being built. So a vehicle with final vin numbers 15000, will not be built until 14995, 14996, 14997, 14998 & 14999, are built?
Or will Ford jump sequence according to parts availability?

Second question: Has anyone actually seen or know of any 22’s being delivered?

Sequential number has to do with internal VIN assignment to an order, but does not guarantee that they are built in the actual sequential order. Again, if there are parts needed to finish a specific build that are on back order, that VIN will be placed in a holding "QUE" until such time as all necessary components are in house and the vehicle is able to be built and rolled off the assembly line as a finished product. This is nothing new, and has been going on for over 60 years.

Well, I don’t believe that to be true. I ordered a platinum max and the only thing it didn’t have was the RES because it wasn’t available. And it keeps getting pushed back.

I received “delayed one more week” emails the past four Fridays. Nothing yesterday so I assume my build date of 3/14 stands.
