First post. Recently purchased a 2019 Expedition Max, 48k miles. Great vehicle so far, but several electrical gremlins. The auto stop/start feature intermittently works in conjunction with the rear overhead lights staying on. The two are directly related because whenever the stop/start is working, the lights in the rear turn off (specifically the two overhead lights over the second row). When the auto stop start is not working, the dash displays the "A" symbol so it thinks the feature is on. At the same time the rear lights stay on, and cannot be turned off by pressing them. A mechanic at the dealership said the car might think a door is open, but there is no indication on the dash that a door is ajar. Where should I start troubleshooting this problem?

It’s related to battery health. If the battery’s not at 100%, some systems are disabled including the start/stop feature. The most annoying feature that turns off is the touch entry for all doors except the driver’s one.

Do you like auto start stop? They make harnesses to disable it. I think it’s a PITA honestly. Disabled mine

Perfectly normal as battery ages. When the battery drops from 100% the auto start/stop shuts down. Doesn’t mean your battery is sick or failing. Just less than 100%. It will still last for many years under 100%.

The real issue is not the S/S but the light staying on. The S/S not working is just a symptom. If you scan for codes, do you or the dealership get any in any of the modules?

I have a similar issue with my 2nd row overhead lighting staying on in my 2019 Expedition staying on. Annoying as I have yet to find a remedy.

Auto SS Eliminator for the win! Great product! Just make sure you do the harness version and not the OBDII version.

Or a tune, that’s how I disabled mine. How’s your ZFG tune btw?
Adam @ZFG is the best in the business on Ford's and specifically the Ecoboost. The fact that your tune is customized to your vehicle and preferences is the biggest difference. Wife didn't like how aggressive the throttle was under certain conditions. I gave him specifics, and tada a revision. I have a Winter version and a Summer version of the 93 tune. The summer replaces slippery mode with a "Drag" mode. Designed for WOT straight line runs. I know, it is a large SUV, but it will embarrass MANY!

I am struggling with my 21 150 for that reason. HPTuners doesn't support the 21 150's yet, because of the new ECU. I REALLY don't want to go with somebody else, but I am about to get to 5K, and it is the longest I have gone before tuning a vehicle in a decade. Go with a tune from a company I know is not as good, or keep waiting?

I have read your posts about how you feel about other tuning companies. Lol. Have you looked at the JB4 tune while you wait for ZFG?

Actually have it, sitting in my garage. I will probably install it while I wait for HPT to support the 21+.

Hey, I have used the majority of the companies out there in the past few years...so I do speak from a bit of experience.

I think people are right about the low battery and the stop start function, but like you said, I don't see how this is related to the rear overhead lights. I'll take it to a parts store and see if it throws any codes. Anything in particular I should be looking for?
