Taxis I drove here in SF years ago started putting front facing/ rear facing cameras back in I believe it was 2009. I drive part time these days for a Ford mobility company called Chariot, we have a fleet of over 250 Ford Transit vans in our SF lot. we have camera's that not only get front/rear pics but we have special driver monitors that watch driver behavior too. Our highway patrol score with camera and a lot of driver training went from a horrible high of 1300 down to 250, a year later. Amazing what technology and scaring people get it right or get fired will do. When you have a commercial license can't do traffic school like class c driver's , so you think twice before doing a bonehead move, at least I do!

I pulled my blend door actuator and removed it with the intention of replacing it. The part sent to me was the wrong part though. Since everything was already apart, I disassembled the original actuator, cleaned out the excess grease in there (as it's rumored to be a cause of failure in these), and put everything back together. At the moment it's functioning fine and not clicking, so I'll wait and see before ordering another part.

Tuned in my magnetic 2018 service loaner after 16 days of enjoyment. 4X4 XLT regular length. Put just over 1K on it and as much as I wanted to I could not get over the rotary dial shift knob. Otherwise a fantastic truck. Brakes, transmission, XLT headlights - all great. Body lines were all great. After a few days of driving its cavernous size really felt comfortable.

We twice tried to fleet order a Race Red (fleet exclusive) 2018 Limited non MAX 2WD. Both orders were accepted in CONCEPS but were later rejected. Fleet manager got nowhere with his contacts. Might try again for a 2019 but the wife now says she really likes the Edge. Complete with its rotary shifter, WTH? We had a 09 Sport in 2009-2011 and she enjoyed it. Dealer says he expects a couple STs before November, so we'll take a look soon.

Just go pick up a 2018 Sport for cheap now. Only difference 2018 6 Speed(No Rotary), 2019 8 Speed(Rotary). Even though the 2019 ST has more HP, the motor is the exact same, the factory tune is just bumped up. An aftermarket tune solves that.

My daily is a 2016 Sport. Love it!

Why were the orders rejected? I’m assuming it had something to do with it being a fleet truck order.

Race Red (PQ) is a fleet only color. Per the book its only available for fleet XL model, probably intended for fire departments.

Acknowledging all Expeditions come down the same KY paint & assembly line, the dealership GSM said it was doable, so the fleet manager ordered. I have a body modifier FIN code and have ordered via fleet thru him in the past. Our best guess was strong retail sales & order backlog made the truck unattractive to somebody in production mgmt.

Race Red standard length shown below. A set of wheels, window tint, and ditching the running boards would dramatically change the trucks appearance IMO.

Ruby red, although nice, just doesn't do it for us.

I just can't bring myself to like the looks of the '18 Expedition. It looks like the bastard child of a Suburban and Explorer. Obviously most people do like the look though, since Surburbans sell quite well. I'd probably get a '17 if I was buying today.
