Ordered a 2020 Expy Limited on 12.08.21; promised delivery end of February. Supposedly built in mid-March but still no truck. Dealer has been good about checking, but last inquiry (about 3 weeks ago) yielded no new info. Status is "unit is built and parked awaiting microchips." Supply chain issues. Seems to be the excuse for everything nowadays. Others have said this and I feel the same - not excited about my new truck ageing in the elements in a lot somewhere waiting for parts that they may or may not remember to install. Honestly, as of today, I'm seriously thinking of bagging the order and trying again next year for a 2023. My 2018 only has 75k on it and looks and runs great. I was just in the mood for something new.

This is what drove me to look around and buy off the dealer lots. Well thats gone down the tubes also. No stock on lots and they want an arm and a leg if they do have something you like. Oldest daughter last year ordered a Bronco and its still no where in site. Ended up buying my FX4 at the end of last year because no F150's or Superduty's were anyplace close. My Expedition is a great all around vehicle but it was no match for my F350 that I sold.

Ordered a Platinum Forged Green with trailer tow package on 11/2/21. The truck has been on chip hold with no update since 3/14. Today I called the Marketing (No Help) line and they did have an update. According to the marketing and confirmed with my dealer, it now has a final date of between 5/28 and 6/4. I am no holding my breath but that is the first update since an email I received on 3/18.

Think you’ve got most of it. The other main points are: Give us all something to read while we wait, and live vicariously through those who have finally taken delivery. It’s all we’ve got.

Ordered 1/11 Timberline Forged Green, 501A, HD tow, bench seat.
Our car hit the rail yard in Mesquite, TX yesterday and was unloaded from the rail car today. Dealer said estimated arrival between 5/17 and 5/20

I just called Marketing to check mine. It's been on chip hold since mid March too. She told me June 3rd. I'll be surprised if it actually happens.

This just posted on B.O.F.

  • The following information announced previously regarding production changes for Rear Climate Control and 2nd Row Heated Seats will no longer require action at this time:
    • Please be informed that the May production action described to remove the Rear Climate Control and 2nd Row Heated Seats from all Expeditions (except 102A SSV) is deferred due to the ability to secure chips to support production of these parts for the near future.
    • We do not need to action the delete option right now, but it has been created in the event it is required in the future.
    • Ford is working diligently to protect production as much as possible, which is why this option has been enabled so that we can continue production if the shortage becomes imminent in the future. We will be back with more information on this particular shortage if the situation changes.

Finally got to chat with the inventory order manager at the dealer, good/bad is my order is showing Priority 2 in the system but is also on commodity constraint. Limited 304a with HD tow so it already doesn't have active park assist or ability to remove auto start/stop. Only other issue would be rear climate control which is not a restriction yet.

Ordered a limited max 304a with CCD on Dec 18th. Found out today it is built but parked off-site waiting for a chip. ETA is June 24th - July 30th.

Vehicle Visibility showed my Platinum ETA End Date changed from April 29th to June 27th today. Total bummer as the camping season is going to come and go, and I can't carry our bikes on the Mach E, but at least someone's finally updating stuff in the system. Given the note above about not needing to delete features on current orders, I'm mildly optimistic that they'll get around to installing my missing chips before the date comes and goes this time.
