Hello,

Our 2004 Expedition has a bad shimmy when braking.

When you brake hard it makes the steering wheel shake really bad.

Now if you are going up hill and brake not so bad then.

If you slow down under 40mph and do a easy brake (like at a stop sign) again not too bad.

All ball joints look tight no slop. The tires where just rotated and now change.

I suspect a warpped rotor.

You thoughts????

Thanks
Jim

I had the same thing recently, replaced the rotors and I'm good as new.

1st Rotors, 2nd worn inner/outer tie rods.
Check ball joints using a pry bar with the front end unloaded. Visual inspection will only tell you the condition of ball joint boots, you can't "see" the internal wear.

Warped rotor...and on the front since you feel it in the steering wheel.
