Haven't seen a navi so I can't compare to my 07 expy. The egr tube would probably go down to the exhaust manifold on that side. Might be easier to go in through the fender. You might be able to see the other valve cover bolts as well through there. I know in the old days at the dealership,it was actually easier to pull the body off to get at the heads on certain vehicles. Good luck girl. You'll get it. Patience is definitely key.
A telescoping magnet is your best friend for dropped wrenches or bolts/nuts. I've got 3 of them, in different sized magnets. Life savers. Just think how easy other cars will be to work on, after this job.
