I had a problem that had me on a goose chase...from time to time I was told by other drivers that I had a left stop light out....I would get home check it out and it would work...so after checking all the obvious...I was sitting in the truck after backing it into the garage, had my foot on the brake and the light was out...as soon as I tilted the steering wheel up, the light went on...shit...then I tilted the wheel down and out it went....ahh..ha...so I checked the connections on the bottom of the column and all looked good...so I opened up the plastic around the column and saw the two wires that are in the picture below that were half way out of the plug...So, I took out the two screws to remove the multi-function switch(turn signal lever) and unplugged the two plugs and repaired the loose wires...I put a cable tie around the wires coming up through the column to stop them from moving when tilting the wheel. put it all back together and problem solved....no money spent, just some time.

Stuff like this is why I love this forum, and plan on becoming a supporting member after the holidays (gotta get the baby toys and whatnot). Thanks for the info, should this ever occur to me.

Thank you BakerEdition for your information. I believe I have this very same issue with possibly something else going on. Besides the same brake light issue, I noticed when I drive down the highway and if I happen to hit a bump in the road my high beams will kick on. This is not making nearby drivers at night very happy with me at all! LOL I'm assuming the loose wires would be causing this as well but could the actual turn signal / wiper lever be loose or possibly worn out ? Any thoughts on this would be great. I'll know more once I actually get into it this weekend hopefully.

Thanks BakerEdition - turn signals work again!

Thanks BakerEdition! My wife drove my Expy and both turn signals and the hazards stopped working. I wasted a couple hours yesterday testing fuses, relays, checking wires. Tonight I ran across your post about moving the steering wheel up... I just went outside and tried it and the signals are working again! Tomorrow, I'll pull the switch to check the connections and (especially) the wire tension - now that I know what to look for.
