I'm interested in using the Sync 3 mobile hotspot feature away from the vehicle (up to 50' according to the manual). Will it be necessary to make a Forscan modification in order to make the Sync 3/hotspot stay on after exiting the vehicle? I know that the radio can be set to stay on up to 60 minutes, but will it still cut off if the vehicle is exited? Any suggestions for how to make this happen and for the hotspot to stay on more than 60 minutes? Or, alternatively, can the radio be set to work without turning the ignition on?

Got my cable from Amazon and my extended license from FORScan and as a complete novice was able to:

Disable Auto Start/Stop
Disable double horn honk when I step out vehicle with FOB
Disabled fake engine noise,
(I want to hear the real engine noises and get used to it so
when something isn’t right I can hear it right
away)
Panic Alarm now requires two pushes of the panic button, (Kept going off in my pocket)

All of these functions should be programmable from the driver’s menu IMHO but FORScan did the job for me.

So are there any differences in programming in the Navigator? I wanna make some changes but not sure what to expect.

I suspect your modules are the same or very similar to our Expys...can you share any screenshots of your Modules?

I don’t have the gear yet, have been on the fence on getting it until I figure out if the stuff I read in here will apply or not. I think I’ll pull the trigger though and I’ll upload screen shots once I can.

I believe as a minimum you would be able to make changes to several settings as they are common throughout Fords/Lincoln’s.

I just took delivery of my 2018 Expedition Limited MAX this morning and by noon, I was already playing around with FORScan. Here is what I have found works so far.

Everything listed below has been confirmed working. If you find something you think is of interest that you have confirmed working, please feel free to add it here so we can build a google doc of all the available modifications.

Here is what I've come up with so far:

Code:
BdyCM 726-41-02 xxx0 xxxx xxxx Disable No Key Present Double Honk

BdyCM 726-27-01 xxxx xxx0 xxxx Enable Fogs On w/ LED headlamps

BdyCM 726-48-02 x0xx xxxx xxxx Disable Auto Start Stop

APIM 7D0-01-01 xxxx xxxx xExx Enable On-Screen H/C Seat Buttons

APIM 7D0-01-01 9xxx xxxx xxxx Disable Sirius As Audio Source

APIM 7D0-02-01 5753 xxxx xxxx Data Entry While Vehicle Moving

At this time, whenever I try to write anything to the IPC or DDM/PDM, I receive a "Service procedure has been interrupted." error so I will be sending log files to the FORScan people to see if they can resolve the issue.
I’ve seen on the code spreadsheet that changing the navigation for use while moving that you could lose the vehicle health report, traffic, and 911 assist. Is that only while typing on the nav or all together?

Still get vehicle health reports and traffic but no more 911 assistance

Anyone make more progress on this? I’d like to be able to make my fog leds be the drls. Seems to be an available edit on the 3rd gen.
I’ve really got to turn off the double honk too, what a horrible noise. Startles anyone around when I jump out for something and leave it running.

Vehicle health reports are being discontinued by Ford starting 1 August 2018, so you are only missing traffic info...which you can get via other means/apps.

Take a look at this thread, it may help you.

Look at the spreadsheet that is listed in post #576

Also - if you put what vehicle you have/are driving in your signature, it will help others when you ask questions for assistance. Thanks.

He said you only lose the 911. The traffic info, is that actual traffic on the map (for instance, red color on road for heavy traffic) or somehing different all together?

I’m posting this in the 4th gen forscan thread. Should be pretty clear what I’m asking about.

Yes, I know where you posted this, but it goes beyond just year.

Like Max, Platinum, etc...those little bits of info are important since across the platform there are a lot of differences.

Anyone in the Philly South Jersey area that could help a gun shy '18 owner do some of the MODs?

Can we use forscan to reduce the number of radio sources. I have 3 am sources, 3 fm, and 3 sirius. I don't need 3 of each. It takes too long to switch from one source to another when I have to scroll through other unused sources.

Bumping this up to keep it active. Still wondering about how to keep that hotspot on after exiting the vehicle. Does anyone have any ideas?

Certainly the electronics that make all of this work shouldn't suck the battery down over several hours. We tow a travel trailer and most RV campground WiFi hotspots are a joke at best and nearly all are insecure. The advertised 50' range that Ford touts would be handy for those times you'd like to use the laptop at the picnic table or in the trailer, but the 20 minute timer is a big shortcoming in my opinion. Hopefully someone will figure out a way to extend the time to something useful.

I agree about the electronics. I've tried running through the 20-minute timer several times and there is plenty of battery capacity remaining. Still hoping that a Forscan expert will be able to offer some help soon.
