I ordered my 2022 expedition stealth max in November 2021. I am so frustrated at this point because my order has been delayed multiple times since April that I reached out to my dealer and asked him if I could just grab one off the lot. They have 11! He said I couldn't since I have rebates from back in November that wouldn't apply to a Expedition off the lot. Keep in mind they have my EXACT car about 2 of them on the lot. Window stickers exactly the same just different VIN. Has anyone had any luck just getting one off the lot??

Just FYI, this isn't a scam. You're currently price-protected back to November 2021. This is actually dealer price protection, too. It means they've paid a lot more for those units on the lot today than they're going to pay for your unit when it finally arrives. If they honor your pricing, it's possible that their margins are close to or below zero due to the difference.

The rebate thing is in addition to the Ford price increases (price protection). You get the better of incentives from when you ordered the truck versus incentives today. Incentives are from Ford, not from the dealership, and they are tied to the specific unit that your ordered. Ford (not the dealership) won't protect incentives on vehicles that weren't ordered when they were in effect.

If you're willing to pay current prices and use current incentives (if any), then I'm sure the dealer would be happy to accommodate you, but it's definitely not sketchy that they won't honor previous pricing.

There's a bit of game theory at play here, too. If you take a unit off the lot, the dealer will still get the unit you ordered, which is above their allocation. They'll be able to sell it at retail at current prices, but because the sale won't be to a person with your exact name (well, maybe), price protection won't apply, meaning that Ford will be happy that the dealer has to pay today's rates. And too many of the orders sold but not matched against a real name that ordered it will hurt the dealer, too, because Ford doesn't like it when dealers game the allocation system.

This means that even if you're willing to pay today's prices for a unit on the lot, the dealer isn't necessarily going to be happy with the additional allocation, even if he can sell it, if he's had a lot of cancellations already.

It almost makes Tesla's system look ridiculously easy, doesn't it?

After ordering 12/23, my Platinum Max finally arrived yesterday in time for a road trip today. No deletes. It seems worth the wait. Thanks to all the contributors here over the past many months.
BlueCruise is pretty slick at least in the few miles it has kicked in so far.
If you’re still waiting, hang in there. 36D57043-449D-4012-9C3E-B25C6DC23BEC.jpeg670A2860-11DA-446D-B967-3DAA43589AA7.jpeg3A45055F-050B-4400-B856-AA8E28E82A79.jpeg

Posted 6/22 on Page 180 - Ours just moved to production and I have window sticker(s) now. Both are identical (story below) and in addition to the Auto Stop-Start Removal that we selected, it looks like we are only losing the Hands Free Liftgate (and saving $55; gee, thanks, Ford).

Both are identical - Limited Max 4X2, 302A, HD Trailer Tow, CCD w/susp road preview, Advanced Cargo Manager. No 15" screen.

The one I actually ordered was confirmed on 2/18 and via email on 4/28 (corrected) was scheduled for production the week of 6/20. No further email, but showing in production today and window sticker visible for the first time. As for the second, when I was calling to check prices, a dealer near me placed an order without my permission or consent that was confirmed via email on 2/11. He was supposed to just be providing a price. He did that, too, and it's almost $2500 higher than the dealer I did order from about a week later. Interestingly, the email for this one came in a few minutes later on 4/28 (corrected) stating a production week of 6/20. Despite being ordered a week earlier, it has a VIN with a higher number than the later ordered one. I guess it was the priority code or maybe the pull of the dealer. I had considered trying to contact Ford and cancel the one I didn't want to place, but it was suggested on here to keep it just in case. The dealer didn't seem to care when I told him I was going with someone else for a better price. He'll just sell it on the lot and knows it will sell, but it irks me still. Just doesn't seem right.

Posted 7/6 on Page 196 - Good grief.

On 7/1, at 2:37am, I received an email that our Limited Max 4x2 is built. Except it is the one I didn't order (see above, dealer placed order on 2/11 while pricing for me, and his price was fairly significantly higher).

At 7:10pm on the same day, I get the following message about the identical vehicle I DID order on 2/18 from another dealer:

The next day, 7/2, at 4:40am, I get an email saying the one that is built has shipped and is on its way. Current estimate for delivery is be‍tween August 1 an‍d August 7.

Very frustrating. Meanwhile I'm getting emails about ordering a '23 Ford (other models, not Expedition yet). This has been very frustrating, to say the least, and I read some of your stories, and there are many that are even worse. Just rented a '21 Suburban for a family vacation (because all of the Expeditions are pulled due to the recall about catching fire). The rental cost about 80% of the difference between the one I ordered and the one I didn't.
I'm sure no one really cares, but documenting this craziness and in case it adds anything for anyone...

No email yet from Ford, but I just logged in to the tracker, and our second (the one we actually ordered, confirmed on 2/18) Expedition Max was marked “Built” yesterday, 7/20/22. Interestingly, the window sticker that was previously available is no longer available. Hoping there are no changes unless in our favor, i.e. including the Hands Free Liftgate.

Meanwhile, the other one (see above, dealer placed order on 2/11 while pricing for me, and his price was fairly significantly higher) still says shipped, but I do not see the 8/1 to 8/7 delivery estimate anymore. It just says: “Your vehicle is In Transit or on its way to your dealership. Transit times vary based on your location and the plant where the vehicle was built.” I know that estimate is in the email I received on 7/2. Could have sworn it was in the tracker, too, but maybe I’m wrong on that. Window Sticker still available for this one and is identical as when described on 6/22 in first quote above.

Yeah, that all sounds like what I'd mostly been hearing, but as with some many of us, things don't seem to be going quite normally.

Never got a single email from Ford, so apparently my dealer screwed that up or something, but this is what I've been able to get from watching the tracker, OrderTracker, and Marketing:
- 3/5 Ordered Limited Max Stealth Performance 4x4, w/ pretty much everything but rear seat entertainment.
- 3/24 Order Confirmed per the tracker.
- 6/16 Tracker says In Production. OrderTracker site says Invoiced.
- 6/17 First window sticker issued with hands-free liftgate delete.
- 6/20 Scheduled Build Week per Marketing
- 6/26 Scheduled Build Date per Marketing
- 7/7 OrderTracker site changed Invoiced date to 7/7.
- 7/11 Rechecked window sticker and some of the text strings at the very top had change, most obviously from "9-Normal" to "4-Rebill." No apparent changes to options or prices.

My dealer has acted like he has even less information. Not sure if he isn't given me the whole story, isn't really trying, or what, but yesterday the word from him was just, "It is still at the plant". Still no modules listed. Still no Blend Date.
There are finally modules listed! Lots of ‘em. I haven’t been able to access Ford’s tracker all day, so hoping the next time I can get it there is finally a date under In Production, or maybe even Built.

I feel ya. I watched a handful of April orders somehow delivered 2 months ago. My wife has gone from anxious/ready for an overpriced new car to angry/unthrilled.

I’ve been wondering if maybe Ford tries to group together orders for a given dealer. I ordered from one of the biggest dealers around, and perhaps not coincidentally just today half a dozen new Expeditions popped up on their site as In Transit. After seeing a good number of people taking delivery of their SPPs this past week, I figure there has to be some other way Ford is deciding to group these orders.

I've been tracking a bunch now for fun since you can find the order number and the vin on each window sticker.

I noticed some groupings. IE, my order number is Z300 and I found a good number of Z300 orders but with other vins and they were all order confirmed in February. I thought order number would be unique for each car.

Then I saw Z400 and they were all order confirmed in march, Z500 for april.

These are not all going to the same dealer, but I think ford has a way of grouping allocations at the beginning of each month for dealer orders and they bulk build a lot of orders.
